SCIALDONE RECERTIFIED AS APPELLATE SPECIALIST
April 2026 – Frank Scialdone, a partner at MRR Law, has been recertified as an Ohio State Bar Association Appellate Specialist. Scialdone is one of the inaugural class of Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA) Specialists and has been continually certified since 2008. There are only 25 appellate specialists in Ohio; they are required to recertify every six years.
The OSBA’s specialization program is the sole program in Ohio accredited by the Supreme Court of Ohio. To earn this certification, lawyers must satisfy stringent criteria, including demonstrating substantial involvement in the specialty area of law, passing a comprehensive, day-long written examination covering the nuances of appellate law practice, completing enhanced continuing legal education (CLE) requirements in the specialty field, receiving positive peer reviews, and demonstrating high ethical standards and professional conduct.
Scialdone has more than two decades of experience in appellate litigation and has been an attorney with MRR Law for 24 years. He has handled more than 300 appellate cases in the Supreme Court of Ohio, all of Ohio’s 12 intermediate appellate district courts, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He routinely consults with trial attorneys on error preservation and pre-appeal strategy. Scialdone has successfully prosecuted and defended original actions (e.g., mandamus, prohibition, etc.) and has submitted amicus curiae (friend of the court) briefings on behalf of clients and organizations.
