MRR Defeats Product Liability, Property Damage and Environmental Claims on Behalf of an Oil Rig Gasket Manufacturer

,

Tom MazanecOn May 4, 2014 there was a blow-out on an oil well in Morgan County, Ohio.  The owner of the oil well brought product liability, property damage and environmental claims against the manufacturers of various component parts of the drilling rig, including Lone Star Fasteners. MRR’s Thomas S. Mazanec was retained to represent Lone Star Fasteners, the company that makes a gasket which is a critical component of the oil rig and, in fact, was damaged in the blow-out.

The total value of Plaintiff’s claims was in the area of $16 to $20 million. Mazanec put together a team of metallurgists and oil field experts who spent a great deal of time not only in Ohio but also traveling to Houston, Texas to participate in testing of the various component parts.

As a result of Mazanec’s efforts, his team of experts and Lone Star Fasteners’ collaborative staff, MRR was able to defeat the claims of the Plaintiff, convincing the oil well owner to abandon his claim against Lone Star Fasteners.
