Over twenty years ago, Tom co-founded Mazanec, Raskin & Ryder Co., L.P.A. and has played an essential role in establishing the many areas of law that the firm now provides. Tom is a partner in the firm, serving as a senior trial attorney, and has his residence in the Cleveland office. Before co-founding the firm in 1981, Tom worked with Progressive Casualty Insurance Company for four years as a claims attorney and senior claims attorney.

Tom has given many professional lectures in his career as an attorney. Some of the topics he has spoken on include nursing home abuse, Ohio laws on uninsured and underinsured motorists, technology in the courtroom, trial tactics, jury persuasion, handling experts at trial, and an insurer’s duty to defend.

Tom has established a record of successfully trying and defending large liability cases that often have involved very sensitive subject matters such as wrongful death, quadriplegia, paraplegia, and brain damage. His practice also includes insurance bad faith defense as well as much experience handling liquor license cases and real estate transactions cases. Tom has represented restaurants, lounges, and bars in liquor license cases. He has represented realtors, sellers, buyers, homeowners, homeowners’ associations, developers, builders, general contractors, and subcontractors in his real estate practice.
